Frequently Asked Questions

Please read these before you send a question, most of the time, the answers below can answer your questions.

1.  How much is a membership and how long does it last?

This year, membership is $40 a year single and $55 a year for a family. The year runs from 4/1 - 3/31.  This includes your outdoor and indoor memberships for VBA. You can get a form at any of our tournaments or open play nights.

2.  I used to play volleyball and haven't for a while.  What do you suggest I do to get involved again?

Try going out to some of our open play nights. There, you can assess your abilities against everyone else's.  Plus, you can meet people to play with at your level and find out more about where to play in the area.   In summer, go to our sand courts see the outdoor page for the schedule, in winter, head over to our leagues and open play nights.

3.  I need a schedule, how can I get one?

Easy, go to our outdoor page and click on our schedule. A link is provided. If you need an indoor schedule, go to the Southern Region Page.

4.  Why should I pay $40 to play volleyball?

VBA uses your membership to maintain the sand courts in Virginia Highlands. We are working towards installing a wall along Arcadia to improve the facility.  We usually get new sand every year, maintain the net systems and a place to store them, ref stands and the area around the courts, we contribute to the neighborhood watch.  We also use your membership to run leagues, clinics and open play in winter.  Check out our news page to see what we are doing for the membership this year. 

5.  I want to join a team.   Can you place me on a team?

VBA is a club.  We do not have teams with which we place members on upon joining.  Alternately, we offer open plays in which you can meet many of our members.  If you feel like forming a USAV (competitive) team at that point, that is fine with us.  You are also free to create your own league team when we offer league play. We are affiliated with several leagues around town and refer player to those league coordinators to find a team or players. 6.  I or my child would like to play juniors, how can I join?

Juniors season runs November through June.  Juniors is for girls and boys ages 12-18 who are enrolled in school. Tryouts are during November or December each year by the many clubs in the Altnata area.  Check with your high school coach for information on tryouts or check out our web page in November.  Please read our juniors page for the appropriate contact persons.
